Terms of use
Last updated 16 October 2026. Written to be read, not skimmed; it is short.
What Readoactive is
A reading-list app: it finds books in the videos you share, keeps your library, series, lists and quotes, and shows what other readers made public. By creating an account you agree to these terms and to the privacy policy.
Your account
- You need to be at least 13. If you are under 18, or under the age of consent where you live, a parent or guardian must agree to these terms for you.
- One account per person, under an email address you control. Keep sign-in codes to yourself.
- You can delete your account at any time from the app or as described at /account/delete.
What you post
- Your library, notes and ratings are private unless you choose to share a list, a review or a quote. What you make public is visible to other readers and may appear in their feeds and on book pages.
- You keep the rights to what you write. You give Readoactive permission to show it to other readers in the app for as long as it is public, and to stop showing it when you take it down or delete your account.
- Keep it about books and respectful: no spam or adverts, no hate, harassment or threats, no sexual content involving minors, no personal information about other people, and no material you do not have the right to share. Quotes are short excerpts; whole chapters are not quotes.
- Readers can report public content. We may remove anything that breaks these rules, and may suspend or close accounts that keep breaking them.
Book data and other services
Book details, covers, ratings and availability come from third parties (Hardcover, Google Books, Open Library, Wikidata, Wikipedia, Fandom, Apple Books, Wikiquote, OverDrive/Libby) and public library systems. They can be wrong or incomplete, and links to stores and libraries lead to sites with their own terms.
Plans and payments
The free plan is the library itself: imports, series tracking, Libby links, lists, quotes and friends, with no limits. Plus adds video capture (with a monthly fair-use cap), Say what you read, and cover and shelf scanning. Plus is a monthly subscription, billed through Stripe when bought on the web and through Google Play when bought in the Android app. On the web, Plus starts with a 7-day free trial for a new customer: your card is saved when the trial starts and first charged when it ends, unless you cancel before then (You → Manage). One free trial per person, whatever address or account is used. You can cancel at any time and keep Plus until the end of the period already paid. Refunds follow the rules of the store you bought through. Prices and allowances may change; changes apply from the next billing period.
Invite a friend: when a new account joins through your invite link and adds five books or captures a video, both accounts get 30 days of Plus, free, added after any Plus you already have; no card is charged for it. One invite month per new account and per person; an inviter earns at most 5 months in any 12 (the friend still gets theirs); your own accounts, addresses or devices don't count. We may take back months gained by abuse.
The service
- Readoactive is provided as it is. We work to keep it available and accurate, but we cannot promise it will always be, and features may change or be withdrawn.
- To the extent the law allows, Readoactive is not liable for indirect losses, lost data, or the content of third-party sites and services. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
- Reading apps that use the developer API may use it only for readers who connected them, only to report and read back their reading, and within its limits; we can revoke a key at any time.
- Do not try to break into the service, scrape it, overload it, or use it to send unsolicited messages.
Changes and contact
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change applies. Questions: dydy.hadoola@gmail.com.
